Skin boosters: what they are, who they suit and what they cost
Skin boosters are talked about a lot, but it is not always clear what they do and what they do not. Here is a simple explanation: which skin they are designed for, how they differ from a filler and from Profhilo®, the price and what the session is like.
The short answer
A skin booster is a series of small injections of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally present in the skin, spread across the area being treated. The aim is skin quality: its hydration, texture and elasticity. It is not a filler: it does not add volume or change your features. At our clinic in Puerto Banús it costs from €250 per session on the face, and €250 per area on the neck or décolleté.
Which skin is it designed for?
- Skin that feels dry or looks dull.
- A skin surface you would like to look finer and more even.
- Skin that has lost elasticity over time.
- The neck and décolleté, two areas of thin skin that often show the passing years early on.
If what bothers you is lost volume or a deep fold, a skin booster is not the answer: the doctor will talk to you about a filler instead. And if your skin does not need anything, you will be told that too.
Skin booster or Profhilo®?
Both work on skin quality with hyaluronic acid, and neither is a filler. What changes is the product and the way it is injected. Prices include VAT and apply in October 2026.
| Skin boosters | Profhilo® | |
|---|---|---|
| Product | Hyaluronic acid | High-concentration hyaluronic acid |
| How it is injected | Small amounts spread across the area | Five points on each side of the face; the product spreads under the skin |
| Aim | Hydration, texture and elasticity | Hydration, tone and texture; it aims to stimulate collagen and elastin |
| Areas | Face, neck and décolleté | Mainly the face |
| Does it add volume? | No | No |
| Price from | €250 · 1 session | €300 · 1 session |
Neither is better in general: the doctor suggests one or the other depending on your skin. If you are also weighing up Sculptra® or Radiesse®, see the comparison in our article Profhilo, Sculptra or Radiesse.

How many sessions, and how long does it last?
It depends on your skin and what you want, which is why we do not follow a fixed schedule. The doctor explains in consultation how many sessions make sense in your case and how often. Nor do we give a general duration: every skin responds differently.
What the session is like, and afterwards
You will feel the pricks of a fine needle, and the sensation varies from person to person; the doctor tells you whether an anaesthetic cream is advisable. As a rule you can return to your usual activities the same day.
Redness, slight swelling or a small bruise may appear at the injection points, usually fading within a few days. Dr Laura J. Leon explains in one of our videos that the face has a great many blood vessels, and a small bruise after a needle is normal. We give you written aftercare instructions.
What no treatment replaces
Before any treatment, Dr Ángel Vidal gives three basic tips in one of our videos: avoid too much sun, or use sun protection; do not smoke; and stay well hydrated. On the Costa del Sol, the first counts even more. A skin booster works on skin quality, but it does not replace those habits.
«If a bruise appears after the procedure, does it mean something went wrong?»
What is a skin booster?
It is a series of small hyaluronic acid injections spread across the skin to work on its hydration, texture and elasticity. It does not add volume or change your features.
How much does a skin booster cost in Marbella?
At our clinic in Puerto Banús, from €250 per session on the face, Pure AH mask included, and €250 per area on the neck or décolleté.
Is it the same as a filler?
No. A filler aims to add volume or shape to a specific area. A skin booster works on skin quality. The doctor tells you which suits you.
Can I treat just the neck?
Yes. On the neck and décolleté the price is per area, and the doctor suggests in consultation which area or areas make sense to treat.
